Monica Flores - happy with her performance at the Competencia Folklórica de Tejas which was held in Corpus Christi March 23-24.  She and her teammates were named Grand Champions and won 1st Place at the competition.

Congratulations and great job goes to Monica Flores!  Monica is a 7th grade student at Hambrick Middle School who participated in the Ballet Folklorico Competition in Corpus Christi this weekend with the Mixteco Ballet Folklorico group.  The Competencia Folklórica de Tejas (CFT) is held annually and serves to educate and broaden the perspective of Mexican dance for all those in attendance whether competing or observing.  Flores dances with Mixteco Ballet Folklorico, a group that has won several awards at competitions.  They also travel locally and internationally with the goal to provide Houston area youth with cultural activities and increase artistic awareness through dance and music. This year the group won 1st Place and were named Grand Champions at the CFT competition.  Hambrick congratulates Flores and all of her teammates for such a great accomplishment.  “We are so proud of our Hambrick students using their talents both in and out of school!” Assistant Principal Dora Garza said.
