This week, we proudly celebrate our three exceptional Assistant Principals who help make Hambrick a place where students and staff can thrive: Ms. Conerly, Mrs. VanGils, and Mrs. Tamez. Since the 2019–2020 school year, all three have served together as Assistant Principals at Hambrick, forming a strong and unified leadership team dedicated to the success of our Hambrick Hawks.
Ms. Conerly earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Houston and her Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. Her strong academic foundation in both content and leadership shines through in her daily work. She is known for her problem-solving mindset, steady leadership, and commitment to supporting both students and staff. Ms. Conerly consistently brings focus, organization, and a “let’s find a solution” attitude to everything she does.
Mrs. VanGils earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University and her Master of Education in Administration from the University of St. Thomas. Her unique blend of creativity and leadership supports her work in maintaining a structured and safe campus environment. With a focus on behavior and safety, she is proactive, dependable, and always ready to step in where needed.
Mrs. Tamez earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Master of Education in Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. With 15 years of experience in Houston ISD, 8 years in Aldine ISD, and 5 years as an Assistant Principal prior to joining Hambrick, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. She leads our LPAC efforts and is a passionate advocate for our Emerging Bilingual students, ensuring they receive the support and opportunities they deserve to succeed.
Individually, each of these leaders brings unique strengths. Together, they create a powerful team that supports our students, staff, and families every single day. From instruction and student support to safety and advocacy, their impact is felt across every corner of our campus.
