Arrival
Supervision is provided at 7:30 a.m. on the car ramp. Students dropped off earlier than 7:30 a.m. will not be supervised, so please do not drop them off too early. Also, please remind your student that once they are dropped off at Hambrick, they should not walk off campus to meet up with friends or go the convenience store across the street.
School doors open at 7:45 a.m. for students to enter and go through scans. All students must have their items searched and will go through the metal detectors for safety purposes. This is an expectation from Aldine ISD. Students must also have their ID around their neck when entering or they will be required to purchase a temporary ID for $1.00.
Breakfast is free for all students and is served daily from 7:45 – 8:35 a.m. in the cafeteria. All students have access to breakfast before moving to their holding area, where they will wait until 1st period. Once students are dismissed to 1st period, the cafeteria closes to prepare for lunch.
Dismissal & Changes to Mode of Transportation
The scheduled dismissal time for Hambrick MS is 4:10 pm. If your child’s mode of transportation will be changed, please send a note to the front office. Students are not to go home with anyone who is not their legal parent or guardian unless that person is listed on the information sheet in the front office. Any change to how a student goes home must be provided in writing and signed by the parent or guardian. If you forget to send a note, please call the front office by 3:00 pm. Without a written note or oral communication to the front office, changes will not be made to the child’s method of transportation.
Bus Riders
On the 1st day of school, students are asked to be at their bus stop early. After the first few days, when bus routes are firmly established, students may be able to arrive at their bus stop at later times. During the 1st week of school, students often arrive home a little later than usual due to added students on the route, new bus routes, and new bus drivers. PLEASE DO NOT BECOME ALARMED. If your address has changed since last school year, you must come to the school to provide proof of residence to update it.
Car Riders
Students who are transported by car will be at their designated area of the school each day and staff members will remain at that duty spot. Please do not make any changes to their mode of transportation after 3:00 p.m. During the 1st week of school, car rider dismissal is rather slow due to many new students and parents who are not familiar with the routine.
PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH THE STAFF! PARENTS MUST REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLE DURING CAR RIDER DISMISSAL; YOUR CHILD WILL BE ESCORTED TO YOUR VEHICLE.
After the first week of school, car rider dismissal will go much faster.
Walkers
Walkers are normally dismissed first in the dismissal process and must immediately depart campus when dismissed. We ask that walkers do not stand around on Aldine Mail Route, and they are expected to move away from Hambrick and towards their home.
